ABOUT OUR TEAM

What is our team like?

Our Robotics team is reliable and supports one another, making us a one of a kind team that learns from each other and bonds as we help one another. This team has a sizable amount of energy, strength and potential to create one-of-a-kind robots.

ABOUT OUR ROBOT

Marvin, our robot, has a tetrix frame with mecanum wheels. He uses an arm to pick up the specimen, which is then carried into a 3d-printed box. The box is lifted by linear slide shaft and can be tilted to deposit the specimens into the desired container. Specimen with clips on them may also be grabbed by an arm located on the front of the shaft and attached to the submersible.

ABOUT OUR ROBOT

Marvin, our robot, has a tetrix frame with mecanum wheels. This allows for lightweight construction and movement in all directions. He uses an arm to pick up plastic balls and boxes. A custom 3D printed box holds the freight, and rubber straws that spin on a motor serve as the intake device. In addition, there is a small, green wheel on the left side of the robot that is attached to a motor. The wheels spins, which allows us to spin carousels on our game field.
Marvin is driven using game controllers, which are connected to a hub. The hub, aptly called the control hub, allows the game controllers to control certain functions of the robot, such as raising the arm or driving it forward via WiFi.
Marvin is able to complete certain tasks without being driven by someone using a pre-programmed autonomous mode. This autonomous mode has certain directions and instructions that Marvin follows through the control hub once the mode is activated

OUTREACH

Our team’s outreach goal is to inspire young people to get interested in technology and teach them about what it’s capable of. We have had several elementary classes come watch us demonstrate our robot since the beginning of 2022. We hope to encourage them to learn more about technology and join our Robotics class when they are old enough to. We think that it is important to demonstrate to our younger people that technology isn’t something exclusive to only adults or “smart” people, and that everyone can be involved and have fun with it!
